During his studies at Tel Aviv University’s Film Department, Meidan shot many short films that gained international recognition, including “Stitches,” which won the Best Film Award at the Tribeca Film Festival. “People Who Are Not Me” and “God of the Piano”, both feature films, took home awards at major festivals around the world and were commercially distributed in cinemas in Israel and abroad.
Meidan has frequently collaborated with the award-winning writer/director, Hadas Ben Aroya. Their film, “All Eyes Off Me,” won the Best Film Award at the Jerusalem Film Festival, and “Corduroy,” a series they created together, recently aired on HOT to critical acclaim. The two are currently working together on “I Can’t Say No to Myself,” which was filmed in Berlin.
Meidan’s cinematic works have been screened and awarded at festivals across globe, including the Locarno Film Festival, the Mar del Plata Festival, Rotterdam, Moscow, BAFICI, the B3 Festival in Frankfurt, Karlovy Vary, Tallinn, the Berlinale, and many others.
His recent projects include “Salty Water,” which won the acting award at the Munich Film Festival and participated in the LGBT Film Festival in Israel, and “Life Without Credit,” a film by Tom Shoval.
Meidan continues to contribute his cinematic eye to commercials and music videos as well. Regardless of the genre or medium, he believes in photography that challenges the audience—a principle that guides him through all stages of a project. From initial concept, through the various iterations, he prides himself on utilizing unique camera movement and lighting to create a compelling realism that actively engages the viewer and results in a distinct visual fingerprint.
