Omer Tobi is a director and screenwriter whose short films have been screened at festivals around the world, including Sundance, Locarno, BFI, and have won awards at the Haifa Film Festival, AFI, and Aspen Shortsfest. Tobi also created, wrote, and directed the drama series, “The Heiress,” for Keshet, and his first feature film, “Tropicana” (Israeli-Canadian co-production) won the Pitchpoint Award at the Jerusalem Film Festival.
Over the years, Tobi has directed dozens of music videos for some of Israel’s most well-known artists, including Ivri Leader, Ran Danker, Noa Kirel, Sarit Hadad, Dana International, Rita, Omer Adam, Harel Sakat, and Keren Peles, among many more. Toby’s aesthetic, humorous, and viral language developed throughout his time as owner and artistic director of the iconic party line, ARISA, where his videos garnered tens of millions of views across the internet and were shown at film festivals and exhibitions around the world. Tobi and his partners initiated and produced musical hits such as “Tel Aviv” (Omer Adam), and “Here is not Europe” (Margalit Tzanani). Haaretz called Arisa “one of the most positive and optimistic things that has happened in Israeli culture in particular, and LGBTQ in particular.”
