Yan was born into a family of artists in Leningrad, USSR.
Growing up, he was inspired by his parent’s creative work and developed a passion for visual storytelling.
In 2000, he began studying at a photography school.
In 2007 Yan entered VGIK (All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography named after S. A. Gerasimov).
While studying he shot a few short and full-length documentaries that received international recognition, including a CameraImage 2013 Golden Frog Award nomination for a short film.
Yan started his career in advertising in 2014 with social projects. He enjoyed filming touching documentary stories in a shorter, more concise form.
Over the years, he has shot 2 TV – series, several short films awarded at international festivals, and numerous commercials for major brands like Armani, Adidas, Loreal, Pampers, McDonald’s, KFC, Burger King, Danon, Purina, Contex, Samsung, and Coca-Cola, as well as social projects for organisations like SOS Children’s Villages, National Geographic, the Ronald McDonald’s Foundation, and many others.
Yan is now based in Tel Aviv and available for collaborations worldwide. He has a reputation for creating impactful and meaningful visual stories with meticulous attention to detail. He strives to create visually emotional and
tactile images and has a talent for capturing authentic and live moments on camera.
