Ido Weisman

Ido Weisman is a director and cinematographer.
He was born in 1989 in the community settlement of Nofit.
He holds a B.A. from the Steve Tisch School of Film and Television at Tel Aviv University.
Alongside his work as a director, Ido also works as a cinematographer on films and various television productions.

He directed the short films Gadi, King of Israel (documentary, 2018) and The Pool (fiction, 2019), both of which were screened and awarded prizes at festivals around the world.
He directed and shot the film Uzi (documentary, 2018), which was shortlisted for the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) and screened at numerous international festivals.

His film Death of a Whale (short documentary, 2022) won the prestigious award for Best Student Film at the International Documentary Association (IDA) Awards and was shortlisted for the Ophir Awards in the Short Documentary category (2023).
The film also won Best Student Film at the Documentary Forum Awards, as well as second place and the Cinematography Award in the student competition at the 2022 Docaviv Festival.
In August 2023, the film was acquired for distribution by The New Yorker’s documentary film platform.

He directed the television program You Have to Read This, which premiered on Kan 11 in May 2025.

His first feature-length documentary, Sun Bay (documentary, 2025), won the Best Debut Film Award at the Israeli Documentary Forum Awards and at the 2025 Docaviv Festival, as well as a Special Mention at the 2025 Southern Film Festival.
The film premiered on Kan 11 in early 2026 and is available for viewing on Kan Box and on Kan 11’s YouTube channel.
